Always Growing

Hello, I am Mike a Commercial fisherman, photographer, and general jack-of-all-trades. I started early in life exposed to the wonder of the outdoors and inland waterways of Puget Sound. Always growing and learning, to expand my knowledge and skills.

A fishy start

Growing up and in the fishing industry. Taking on additional responsibilities as the years progressed. It is very satisfying to provide natural resources to the consuming public. Many of them were unaware the resource even existed. Nurturing the link between the public and the industry that sometimes gets a bad rap.

Later in my young adult life, the situation with fishery management became untenable. The operation switched to Dungeness crab in Southeast Alaska. With a different set of difficulties to deal with and overcome. The distances involved between towns and, solidarity helped me to grow my DIY skillset and attitude. So; Fix it now with what we have available or be stuck out here until someone else comes along. I now take it upon myself to fix or attempt to fix most things, and usually at least discover the cause of the faults.

Sharing Places

I grew into photography to showcase the beautiful sites I was exposed to daily in my fishing career. After taking the majesty for granted for too long in the Salish Sea. From sweeping landscapes, wildlife, and even my fellow fisherman plying their trades. I currently maintain a website at Smugmug to showcase and offer for sale my favorite shots. Adding additional services as my skills improve. Constantly learning and growing into different genres and hobbies. Documenting much of the process.

Sharing my experiences through this blog is a new venture. Seeking to refine my grasp of the written word. Sharing my experiences, techniques, and favorite products along the way. Having downtime between seasons allows me to grow. Exploring new techniques, genres, and locations.
